The Azalea Cocktail is a vibrant, refreshing drink inspired by the beautiful azaleas that bloom in Augusta during the Masters Tournament. Often regarded as the unofficial drink of the Masters, this bright pink cocktail is the perfect blend of citrusy and sweet flavors, making it a must-try for any Masters Week celebration.

Here’s how to make the perfect Azalea cocktail:

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz gin (or vodka for a twist)

  • 2 oz pineapple juice

  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 oz grenadine (for the signature pink color)

  • Ice

  • Lemon wedge or azalea flower for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients:

    • Make sure to use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor. The grenadine will give the cocktail its beautiful pink hue, so adjust the amount depending on how vibrant you want the color.

  2. Mix the Drink:

    • In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin (or vodka), pineapple juice, lemon juice, and grenadine. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until the ingredients are fully mixed and chilled.

  3. Strain and Serve:

    • Strain the cocktail into a chilled glass filled with fresh ice.

  4. Garnish and Enjoy:

    • Garnish with a lemon wedge or, for a more thematic presentation, an edible azalea flower. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Pro Tips:

  • Gin vs. Vodka: While the traditional recipe calls for gin, using vodka creates a smoother, more neutral flavor. Choose whichever spirit you prefer.

  • Pineapple Twist: Some variations add a splash of orange juice or even club soda for a slightly different taste and texture, but the pineapple juice keeps it true to the original recipe.

This light, fruity cocktail is as beautiful as it is delicious, making it a perfect sip to enjoy while watching the Masters or celebrating any spring occasion. Cheers!
